Udyogini works with poor women at the grassroots level
with the aim of ensuring sustainable development and long-term
food security. Its vision is for a society where women are
self-reliant and in control over their lives.
The main thrust is to provide them with basic management
skills so that they are able to set up small enterprises
and successfully operate them. It is indeed not an easy
task to communicate and make mainly illiterate people understand
basic management skills.
Udyogini has successfully implemented a model that it has
indigenously developed to train these women in basic skills
of running a business. However this process is on going
and Udyogini is looking for support and facilitation from
educational institutes and professional organizations for
developing teaching and learning models and implementing
them at the grassroots level. We offer a wonderful opportunity
for students from Social work, Psychology and Management
departments to intern with us and upgrade their skills through
hands on experience. We would like professional organizations
engaged in a similar or related activities to send us their
professional staff on deputation who can train on issues
such as quality control and markets to Udyogini and grassroots
NGO staff or have special technical skills in particular
industries such as design for crafts development, agro-processing
and knowledge and linkages with overseas markets.
Udyogini also offers opportunities for disadvantaged women
to show case their products in upscale urban markets by
holding exhibitions and sales. We look forward to support
from trade organizations for donations of venues for such
exhibitions and sponsorship for creation and dissemination
of publicity material.
