Udyogini undertook a project to increase knowledge, cultivate understanding and change policy relating to HIV/AIDS in its workplace and communities with which it works. Collaborating with the Naz Foundation India, it developed a strategy to create an organic 'home grown' workplace policy by including the entire staff in the process. An organization-wide training program was conducted to promote the internal and external mainstreaming of HIV/ AIDS. HIV/AIDS workplace policy has been adopted by the Executive Committee of Udyogini.
Udyogini has constituted a Gender Committee of which the Convener is the CEO. This is the mechanism for women in the organization to bring forth various issues that impact their professional lives to the attention of the organization, not just those to do with sexual harassment. These could be infrastructure, safety or family pressures.
Udyogini staff are regularly sent to training programs in India and abroad to upgrade their skills and understand their own needs and behavior. Among these are the human development labs offered by the Indian Society for Applied Behavioral Sciences and courses on neo-linguistic programming. For knowledge and skills in livelihoods and markets, staff are sent to courses offered at Coady Institute in Canada. For general exposure on social entrepreneurship, staff are sent to the annual social entrepreneurship conference at XLRI, Jamshedpur.
