Udyogini has undertaken many initiatives since its restructuring and revisioning in 2002 to work in a more integrated way and test out BDS approaches for poor women directly at the grassroots level. In 2008, it contracted the Sattva Media Consulting Services, Bangalore (See http://www.sattva.co.in) to undertake an evaluation of its work and formalize a new business plan for four years. Given the expansion of Udyogini's work in BDS in several states and the widening of products and services for poor women, the business plan recommended that a consolidation of the products and services portfolio for BDS for women can be marketed as an Udyogini specialization and offered more widely as well as to more number of clients. To support this, it recommended intensified and specialized support at headquarters in Delhi for R&D, human resources and finance. This plan was endorsed by the Executive Committee of Udyogini and is being implemented by the management."

In 2010, the Executive Committee endorsed the consolidation of Udyogini's BDS work around 3 key verticals of Training, Value Chain Development and Market Linkages. Sattva Consulting Services continues to provide high level business consulting services to Udyogini to make our work under these verticals robust, including the concentration on developing for-profit social enterprises around two to three value chain products by the end of 2012.
